I bought some cards some years ago from a woman who used folded paper in this manner (although with a very different result - she used solid paper and made representational images, like flowers). She called it "iris folding" I think - for the way the eye works, I believe. Ever since then, when I see this technique, I think of things unfolding and going into the image.
it IS iris folding Claudia! I learned it in a workshop a long time ago and decided it would be cool to use trash. I agree it's like a flower unfolding, or a portal opening like a camera shutter. fun with paper--it never gets old~ thanks for commenting you guys!!! XO DK
DK, i thought about you the other day, as I cleaned out a purse after a trip. You know.....all those lists, junk and stuff. Actually, i think of you often. Every time I see a piece of trash, I say to my self....omg pick it up and make sonething for Diane! I will soon. Love what you are doing these days. Not everyone can appreciate and re-re like you do.
so good to 'see' you PL!! I was thinking about you too the other as I was going through addresses of mail artists I haven't talked to in a long time. how are things? you are missed. Thanks so much for your comment--it means a lot to me. have as stressful a xmas as possible!!!
